Eleanor D. Haddon Past National President of Sigma Kappa Sorority Eleanor D. Haddon, 99, formerly of Ocean Beach III, passed away on her 99th birthday, Sunday November 23, 2014 at Sunnyside Manor, Wall, NJ. Eleanor was the devoted mother of three children: Warren D. Haddon, Trudie Haddon Wanchow and Sharon Haddon Andelora. She was proud to have nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
Her husband, William P. Haddon, died in 1981. When asked what her greatest accomplishment was in life, she said beside her family and friends, it was being a member of the Sigma Kappa, her college sorority, for over 75 years and serving as their National President as well as other national offices throughout her lifetime. In the community of Ocean Beach III, she will always be remembered for her love of travel and arranging trips for the Ocean Beach Seniors and other groups. Even if she couldn’t remember all she had done later in life, she always remembered that she had taken 53 cruises.
She was involved in the Gloria Chapter of Eastern Star, the Women of the Moose in Ortley Beach, the Board of Trustees for the Ocean Beach and Bay Club, Deborah and others. Even people today remember her writing a column “Ocean Beach News.”
