DURHAM- Mr. Elbert “Al” Yarborough, 87, passed away Friday, February 16, 2018 at Hock Family Pavilion.
Mr. Yarborough was born January 3, 1931 in Lee County, NC to the late Earl and Esther Yarborough. He was a CPA with Thomas Knight, Trent, King Company for 40 years. He was a member of the Durham Jaycees, Life Member and past President of Durham Sertoma Club, Past Treasurer of Home Builders Association, American Institute of CPA’s, NC Association of CPA’s, Past Treasurer of Triangle Chapter of CPA’s, Life Member of Durham Masonic Lodge #352, Scottish Rite, Sudan Shrine, Charter Member Amran Shrine, Charter Member of Croasdaile Country Club, Durham Charter Member of Commerce, Member of Durham Merchants Association, Member of Durham Credit Bureau. Mr. Yarborough proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Mr. Yarborough is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Esther Yarborough; brother, David Yarborough; sisters, Margarette Harris, Dorothy “Dolly” Stone, Sadie Ryals and Elsie Wicker.
Mr. Yarborough is survived by his wife Joyce Ingram Yarborough; son, Jim Yarborough (Lisa) of Durham; daughter, Anne Y. Baber (Doug) of Bahama; sisters, Helen Maddox of Broadway, Belle Jones (Needham) of Mobile, AL; grandchildren, Chris Baber (Tabatha), James Yarborough, Jr., Kathryn Yarborough; great-grandchild, Taylor Baber; sister-in-law, Betsy Yarborough; brother-in-law’s, Tracy Wicker, Harvey Stone and numerous other loving family members.
