Elaine Winifred Mabery, 70, of Middletown, passed away peacefully at Hartford Hospital on Monday, November 22, 2010 Born on March 8, 1940 in Guilford, she was the daughter of the late Whit and Bernice (Franklin) Mabery. Elaine was blessed with a second set of parents, the late Thomas and Patricia (James) Hendricks. Elaine received her education in Meriden. She was employed at the Loctite Company in Newington and Rocky Hill for fifteen years. She went on to work for Middlesex Homecare for six years retiring in 2001 because of her illness. Elaine had a special passion of caring for the sick and those who had a special need of just needing a special friend. She had a smile that would illuminate the room and a heart that showed love to all who crossed her path. Elaine will be greatly missed. She leaves her children, Michele (Gregory) White, Kasto Mabery and Joseph Mabery, all of Middletown; a brother, Richard (Pam) Medlock of Waterbury; five sisters, Harriet (Clarence) Parks of Ansonia, Bertha Jett of Darlington, SC, Bernice Allick Gilmore of New Haven, Shenette of San Diego, CA, and Marion Alston of Yalesville; brother-in-law, James Yearby of Hartford; and a sister-in-law, Lucille Shockley of New Britain. She was also survived by seven grandchildren, Gregory White, Jr., Corneilus Moore, Ieisha Freeman, Patrice White, DeAndrea Mabery, all of Middletown, Taylor Mabery of Newington and Natasha Scott of ME; ten great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family. Besides both sets of parents, Elaine was predeceased by her son, Andre Mabery, seven sisters, five brothers and her companion of thirty years, Joe Louis Shockley.
