Elaine Terese Corbalis (née Green) passed away peacefully with family at her bedside on Friday, May 19, 2023. She had put up a valiant fight with dementia for over 4 years. She is preceded in death by her son, Christopher Corbalis, lost to leukemia in 1989. Elaine is survived by her husband, Fred of 62 years; children, Fred Corbalis III (Cari), Denise Hawkins (Jeff), Kevin Corbalis (Melinda); and her dear twin sister, Elsa and brother, Donald. She deeply loved her 8 grandchildren, Keith, Taylor, Emma, Christopher, Kira, Brittney, Cody, and Dillon; and 2 great-grandchildren, Finn and Kip.
Elaine was born in Neptune Township, NJ on Thursday, April 10, 1941, and grew up on the Jersey Shore beach town of Avon-by-the-Sea. She graduated from Asbury high school and studied at Monmouth College. She loved the beach, shelling, and swimming in the ocean from childhood into her adult years. She had many talents and hobbies; she was an avid quilter and knitter and loved puzzles and collecting treasures. One of these treasures she’d often find and pocket were heart-shaped rocks, which pepper the home she shared with Fred; these were little “hellos” from her late son, Christopher. Elaine was a military wife, traveling with her husband and children many times during his 24-year Air Force career, eventually settling in Sandia Park, New Mexico. Elaine was a truly beautiful person. She was dedicated to her family, made instant friends anywhere she went (even the grocery store), and was loved by all who knew her.
