Elaine S. Cercone, age 80, of Rensselaer, Indiana passed away on Friday, September 18, 2020, at Franciscan Health Lafayette.
Elaine was born on October 6, 1939, in Chicago to Raymond and Mary (nee Dolato) Kolodzieski. She lived in Midlothian, Illinois for 40 years, before moving to Rensselaer in 2000. She was raised in the Chicago area, graduating from Fenger High School Chicago, IL. On June 11, 1960, in Chicago, she married Edward Cercone, who passed on September 5, 2019. Elaine was employed as a secretary for a law office in Chicago for 2 years, then dedicated her life to her family. She always put her family’s needs before her own. Elaine enjoyed following her family on social media where she could watch them grow and keep up with their travels. She was a die-hard Cubs fan. She was an avid book reader. She enjoyed mysteries, Sci-Fi and crime dramas. She was a member of the St. Augustine Catholic Church in Rensselaer.
Elaine is survived by; her four children, Victor (Mary) Cercone of Oak Forest, Illinois, Catherine Boyd of Provo, Utah, Michael (Krista) Cercone of Lufkin, Texas, and Vincent (Ann) Cercone of Rensselaer, Indiana. Elaine is also survived by eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; one brother, Raymond (June) Kolodzieski of Stillwater, Minnesota and her beloved cat, Peanut.
Elaine was preceded in death by; her parents, Raymond and Mary Kolodzieski, her loving husband, Edward Cercone, a daughter, Mary Rita Cercone, and a son in law, Curtis Boyd.
