Elaine R. (Green) Phalen, 87, of Peru, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at her daughter’s home in Elburn surrounded by loved ones. Elaine Phalen was born November 11, 1934, to Lilburn and Fern (Barcus) Green in Lone Tree, Iowa. She was a graduate of LaSalle-Peru Township High School.
She married Patrick Phalen on May 8, 1954, in Mendota. Elaine and her husband, Patrick were interior designers and owned and operated Phalen’s House of Draperies in Mendota, IL for 42 years before retirement. Elaine’s passions were interior design, floral arranging, worldwide travel with her husband, and most importantly, her family and all those she loved.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Lane Bresticker of Elburn and Lori (Michael) Ring of Lake Villa; son-in-law, David Schlesinger of Earlville; grandchildren, Bradley (Marcia) Meadows, Blair Meadows (Jesse Furmanek), Jayde Schlesinger (Sam Lipp); three great-grandchildren, Maddox and Aliyah Meadows and Eleanor Lipp, three nephews and one niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Patrick on April 4, 2014; one daughter, Cynthia (Phalen) Schlesinger on January 23, 2021; one son-in-law, Robert Bresticker on November 27, 2015; two brothers, Dale Green and Doran Green.
