Elaine Marie (Henggeler) Toline, age 93, of Stromsburg, Nebraska, passed away September 11, 2022 at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg.
Elaine was born October 9, 1928 to Edward and Margaret (Glatter) Henggeler in Shelby, Nebraska. She attended Dist. 18 grade school and graduated from Shelby High School in 1945.
After the passing of her father in 1936 Elaine helped her mother to care for her younger siblings. When her mother remarried and moved, Elaine lived with her aunt, Helen Glatter, and helped with domestic chores so she could remain in school in Shelby.
On December 7, 1945 she was united in marriage to Vance Toline at Calvary Lutheran Church in Swede Home. They made their first home near Swede Home and farmed in the area for several years. They became the adoptive parents to daughter Cynthia in August of 1963. Elaine enjoyed being a homemaker and also worked for many years in the Jack and Jill, Swans and Economy Food stores. They retired from farming in 1983 and moved to Stromsburg.
She enjoyed gardening, reading, music and all the special happy times with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter Cindy (Dave) Klein of Kearney; grandchildren Chelsea Carlson, Grant (Kenzie) Carlson and Bryce Carlson and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Vance who passed away March 15, 2020; parents; sister Maxine Allison; brother Duane (Lloydell) Henggeler; nieces Barbara and Betty.
