Elaine Joyce Powell, 74, of Galesburg, died at 8:10 a.m. Monday, August 17, 2015 at Marigold Health Care and Rehab, Galesburg. Elaine was born October 23, 1940 in Sharon, PA, the daughter of Paul A. and Mildred I. (Tingley) Pedigo. She married David S. Powell in 1958 in Knoxville, IL. Elaine is survived by two sons, Bryan (Roseanne) Powell of Millersville, TN and Matt Powell of Davenport, IA; seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; and two brothers, John Pedigo of Galesburg and Joe Pedigo of Menomonee Falls, WI.
She was preceded in death by husband on October 19, 1999 and her parents.Elaine worked at the Galesburg Mental Health Center for many years and served as interim director at the Mary Davis Home for a time. Elaine was a lifelong member Calvary Assembly of God Church and a Red Hat lady. Elaine never met a stranger and loved helping people. She touched many lives and her kindness and gentle spirit will long be remembered.
