Elaine M. Frick, age 93, passed away at home Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at 9:30 PM surrounded by her best friend Bob and her beloved pets.
Elaine was born in Chicago, Illinois, on July 23, 1918, the daughter of Henry and Marie (Schenk) Vollmer.
After graduating from college she went on to become one of Illinois Bell’s first female engineers. After a whirlwind romance, Elaine married attorney J. Wallace Frick. Soon after they married, the couple purchased their home in Sawyer, Michigan, where Elaine continued to commute to her job in Chicago on the South Shore. After retirement and the death of Wally, she devoted much of her life to the betterment of animals.
Elaine leaves behind many friends who were touched by her gentle grace and warm hugs.
