Elaine Ford Kapple, age 92, was called back to her heavenly home on Tuesday, March 15, 2022. She passed away peacefully at her home. Elaine was born on October 31, 1929, in Centerville, Utah, to Rulon Garn Ford and Arvilla Roberts Ford. She was raised in Centerville on a farm with her two sisters and six brothers. On the farm she learned how to work hard, which she continued to do throughout her life. She also learned how to play the piano during her early years and became an accomplished pianist and organist. She attended schools in Centerville, graduated from Davis High School, and attended the University of Utah.

Elaine met the love of her life and eternal companion, Charles Dixon (Dick) Kapple, and they were married on June 11, 1952. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They are the parents of five children. Elaine was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served for many years in the Primary as the accompanist, sharing her musical talent with so many. She also greatly enjoyed serving with her husband for several years as service missionaries.

Elaine was physically active throughout her life and especially enjoyed running, walking, and swimming. Her children and friends remember her running laps around the track at the old Deseret Gym and later walking around her neighborhood. Elaine enjoyed serving others, including in the Junior League. Her children have fond memories of her doing the Junior League puppet shows at Christmas Village and at schools in Ogden.

Elaine worked for many years at Farr’s Jewelry store and made many wonderful friends there. She also worked at Mickey’s Knit Craft, which was especially enjoyable for her because of her passion for knitting, crocheting, and needlepoint, and helping others with their projects. She made beautiful blankets, blessing dresses, and outfits that her great-grandchildren were able to wear.

Elaine will long be remembered as a wonderful wife and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her face would light up whenever her grandchildren and great-grandchildren came to visit. Everyone will miss her yummy mints, caramel popcorn, toffee, and her presence at the annual Colter Bay trip on Jackson Lake, but we are so happy for her to be back with her beloved husband, Dick, whom she greatly missed the past five years.

Elaine is survived by her five children: Dixon Kapple (Lorl), Sue Anne Davis (Mark), Karen Anderson (Charlie), Brad Kapple (Tracy), JeNae McFarland (Ed); 16 grandchildren, and 44 great grandchildren; her siblings, Newell Ford (Kathy), Emma Glover (David), and Mark Ford (Marcia); her sisters in-law, Katherine (Kaye) Ford, Catherine Ford, and Lora Ford; her brother-in-law, Dave Layne, and sister-in-law, Joanne Layne.

Elaine was preceded in death by her wonderful husband Dick; her parents Rulon and Arvilla Ford; her siblings, Clynn Ford, Kathleen (Arlin) Bloomfield, Duane Ford, Joseph Garn Ford, and Walton Ford.
