Elaine Long, 86, of Camden, SC, passed away August 1st, 2018. She was born May 29th, 1932 in Allentown PA to Arthur Angstadt and Jennie Ackerman Angstadt. Elaine and her late husband, Coast Guard Captain Kenneth Long, were high school sweethearts. They were married for 57 years before Kenneth passed away in 2012. As a U.S. Coast Guard family, Elaine, Ken and their family were stationed around the country, including Norfolk VA, Groton CT, San Leandro CA, Gretna LA, Cleveland OH, Springfield VA, Governors Island NY, and Elizabeth City NC. After Kenneth’s retirement, they settled in Camden, SC which they called home for 25 years.
A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Elaine also developed a strong network of friends in the area who had helped each other through both good and bad times and her family is thankful for their support.
Elaine was passionate about gardening and very involved as a Kershaw County Master Gardener.
