Mr. Eirvin M. “Toby” DeWitt Jr., 89, of Newnan, GA. passed away Thursday, August 29, 2019. Toby was the son of the late Eirvin M. DeWitt Sr. and Lillian Mallard Stuart. Toby is also predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth “Beth” McPherson DeWitt. Toby retired from the U.S. Army in 1967 and he and his wife moved to Newnan to put down some roots. He and his family loved to travel, although they had moved 21 times in a 15 year period with the Army. In Newnan, he and his wife ran a telephone answering service for 25 years and operated a stitchery shop as well. He enjoyed history and geology and even donated his extensive gem collection to the geology department at the University of West Georgia, Carrollton campus.
