On September 1, 2021, Eileen McCartin Love was embraced by the loving arms of God and delivered into Heaven, having wonderfully fulfilled her roles as devoted Catholic, beautiful wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, daughter, friend and gifted author.

Eileen was born on May 1, 1954, in New Hyde Park, NY.  In 1978, she married her husband Mike and then moved to Colorado during its earliest days of growth in 1982 to raise four sons.  Eileen was a life-long catechist, speaker, writer and storyteller.  She was a certified Master Catechist, graduate of the Catholic Biblical School and held a Master’s degree in Theological Studies.  She worked for many years as a teacher and parish director of faith formation in the Archdiocese of Denver and more recently at Endow, a national women’s apostolate.

Eileen will forever be remembered for her compassionate disposition, engaging personality and ability to see the good and beauty in all people and things.  She was fortunate to have shared travel, camping, and sailing memories with family and friends.

Eileen’s crowning achievement and treasured gift to her family and friends is her memoir, published in 2020, titled In the Shadow of the Cedar.  Written as a series of vignettes, the book tells the story of Eileen’s growing up within the gravitational pull of her family’s ancestral home on Cedar Drive in Great Neck, NY.

Eileen is survived by her husband of 43 years, Mike, and her four sons with their wives: Ryan (Mayra), Dan (Mary), Brendan (Alison), and Matt (Sarah).  Her seven grandchildren will forever enjoy her legacy of limitless imagination, whimsical but sophisticated vocabulary, and lessons in music appreciation.  In addition, Eileen’s passing is mourned by her four siblings and their spouses: John (Geri), Bill (Maureen), Maggie (John) and Tom (Louise), as well as her two sisters-in-law with their spouses: Kate (Rudy) and Janet (Andy), and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

A wake will be hosted at Horan & McConaty (5303 E. County Line Road; Centennial, CO 80122) on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, from 4:30pm-7:00pm, with a Rosary Vigil from 7:00pm-8:00pm.
