Eileen Kay Bennett, 68, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Baya Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a courageous battle against cancer. She was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania to the late Linwood and Shirley [Parker} Angstadt and has lived here in Lake City for the past 45 years. Eileen was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend who took pride in being an ardent part of her community. She shared her time between her family and the youth of Columbia County, who were involved in sports. Whether it was cheering at a CHS Football/Baseball game, or any of the Little League events, she did her best to support and encourage the children of Lake City along with her sons, Scott & Andy. She was an integral part in the founding of the Lake City Boys Club and a firm believer in patronizing our local business owners. She is preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, William S. Bennett (2003).
Survivors include her sons, Scott (Heather) Bennett of Gainesville, FL, and Andy (Veronica) Bennett of Lake City, FL; brother, Jeff (Karen) Angstadt of Lake City, FL; sister, Susan (Ralph) Viamontes of Vero Beach, FL; grandchildren, Drew, Case, Nina, and Ella Bennett; along with her dearest longtime companion, Alan Jugar and the many friends and neighbors who will miss her kind and cheerful spirit.
