Eileen Hammond, age 88, with family beside her went home to be with the Lord on June 9th, 2018. Eileen was preceded in death by her husband Roger L. Hammond, her mother Annie Adelaide Barnes, her father George Henry Barnes, her two sisters Topsie, Gwen and brother Jim Barnes.
Eileen E. Hammond was born April 30th, 1930 in Southampton, England. She graduated from high school and met her husband Roger, while serving in the Navy and stationed in South Hampton during World War II. She migrated to Duford, South Carolina to be with her husband. Later Eileen and Roger moved to Virginia and lived there from 1951 to 1988 and then to Edgewater, Florida.
Eileen was a stay at home mom until her youngest child went to junior high school. Later she worked in various department stores, an insurance company and did volunteered work.
Eileen leaves five children. Roger D. Hammond (Claire), Manda Fortney, Regina Grogan, Myron Hammond, and Deirdre Williamson (Dana); 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren over five generations. She was loved by many and her warm smile will be greatly missed.
