Effie K Anderson
October 11, 1927 – May 11, 2015
Heaven’s gates have opened to welcome a wonderful woman home. Effie K Anderson, 87, of Layton, Utah, was born to William M Keyes and Mary Ann (Mamie) Jaques, in Devil’s Slide, Utah. She grew up in Devil’s Slide and attended school in Morgan, where she was a cheerleader in high school. During World War II she served as an aircraft electrician at Hill Field, Utah. She was an avid gardener, who taught her family to can and preserve food. She loved camping, fishing and spending time with her family. She loved the Uinta Mountain Range and enjoyed camping from childhood. Family was everything to Effie, she was the rock that held them together. She held annual Christmas Eve parties, hosted weddings and barbeques in her back yard. She worked at the Layton ShopKo for many years until she retired at 82 years old. After retirement she learned to crochet and created afghans for grandchildren.
Effie is survived by her brother, Bud Keyes, her 2 sons and their spouses, Jim Sickinger (Shawn), ID., William Sickinger (Shelly), HI., her 3 daughters, Trudy Findlay, Rainelle Mikesell, and Sandy Kannaly (Sean), UT., 23 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Leon F Anderson, her parents, and two sisters.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Jason Fife, Dr. Cori Patel (Stick), and the staff at Brighton Hospice for care provided to her and the family.
