He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Helaine Dotson.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carolyn, son William (Debbie) of Lake Butler, Florida, daughter Kathleen Dotson Moosa of Alpharetta, Georgia, Ernie Moosa of John’s Creek, Georgia, Granddaughter Ashlee Johnson (Steven), Grandson Adam Dotson (Jennifer) and great-grandsons Landon Johnson and Oliver Richard Dotson.
He served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a school administrator for the Miami, Florida school system for 30 years, before retiring.
He was a member of the Martinsville American Legion, National Education Association, and a Life Member of the University of Florida Alumni Association.
