Edwin Lynn Warehime, 85, joined his beloved bride on Friday, June 22, 2018. Ed was born in his grandmother’s house in Caldwell, Ohio on October 29, 1932. The youngest of two children, he was the son of William Elmer Warehime and Sarah Elizabeth Barrows Warehime Dolder and stepson of William “Pop” Dolder.
He was preceded in death by his eternal companion and wife, Marian Juanita Southerland Warehime, his parents, and his sister Patricia Jeanne Warehime Thomas.
Ed is survived by his five children; Susan Higgs (Todd), Robert Warehime (Wende), Kathleen Garcia (Pedro), Marian Salyer (Michael), and John Warehime (Julie); his sisters-in-law Patricia S. Fitch (Steve) and Patricia M. Southerland; daughter-in-law Bridget Staton Warehime; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Ed was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved the Lord, his wife, and his family. He was honored to serve in the United States Navy. Avid Carolina fans, both he and Marian graduated from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Ed was a lifetime educator and an advocate for students, bestowing his joy of learning and passion for knowledge. He was a published author and playwright as well as a recognized historical expert. He loved the arts, particularly theatre and music, often performing and singing with his gifted wife. Ed and Marian made their home a safe harbor for all who entered a home away from home for their kids’ friends as well as for students from all over the world. Ed had a fantastic sense of humor, a quick wit, and an insuppressible love for life. He was giant in spirit and body with an equally kind and gentle nature. His memorable legacy of love as a good father, husband, friend, teacher, mentor, citizen, and person will live on. He was a good man. He loved and was loved.
