Edwin Hill of Punta Gorda Florida passed away Saturday September 25 2021 at Gulf Coast Medical Center Fort Myers Florida. Edwin was married to Shirley Hill for 62 years and she passed in 2015. Born in Toms River NJ, he was a lifelong resident until 2016 and was a graduate of Toms River High School. Edwin was employed by Lakehurst Naval Air Station and Pensacola Naval Air Station from 1949 and retiring in 1982.
Edwin also owned Duraclean by Hill Rug and Furniture Cleaning which he sold. Edwin served in the Navy during WWII. He ran a movie projector for the troops in Washington DC. He started out with the Marines as MP and then was put in the Navy. One of Edwin’s most memorable events was watching the Hindenburg fly over his home and his father taking him to watch The Hindenburg land and seeing the crash on May 6 1937
This inspired Edwin to become a Aircraft Electrician with both Naval Air stations and he worked on the Blimps/Airships. Beloved Father to 2 children A daughter Susan Leigh Sullivan and Dennis J.
