Edwin “Ed” R. Dangler Sr., age 87, of Salem, died at 3:25 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2014 at the Essex of Salem III. He was born May 17, 1926 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Ed retired from J. Herbert Construction where he worked for many years and had previously been a self-employed carpenter. He served with the U.S. Air Force during WWII. His wife, Loretta Edna (Kraus) Dangler, whom he married April 20, 1945, preceded him in death May 1, 2000. A daughter, Patricia D. Gray; two brothers; and a sister also preceded him in death. Survivors include two sons, Edwin R. (Paula) Dangler Jr. of San Antonio, Texas and Michael A. (Lorena) Dangler of Salem; a brother, Robert (Phyllis) Dangler of Tampa, Florida; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
