Edwin DeWitt Brown, age 87 of Midland, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2014. He was born in Adam County, Indiana to the late DeWitt A. Brown and Grace Johnson on January 5, 1927.

Ed attended Midland public schools until age 16. At that time he joined the United States Navy. He served on active duty during World War II from 1944-1946. Family and farming were Ed’s passions. He grew up on their family farm located on East Bradford Road in Midland. He made regular trips to southern Indiana to stay in touch with family members.

Ed worked in the construction field for many years, primarily for Sugar Construction.

Ed is survived by his loving wife, Doris (Bowen-Adams) Brown, and his two sons, Kenny (Luann) Brown of Midland, and Harry (Jill) Brown of Lake Havasu, Arizona. He is also survived by his stepchildren Alison (Steve) Hartman of Midland; Paula Adams formerly of Petoskey (deceased 2013); Jeannie (David) Dellar of Midland; Lynne Adams of Asheville, NC, and Cameron Adams of Bonifay, Florida.

Ed’s sisters, all of Midland, are Helen Margaret Smith, Dorothy Lee Arthur and Berniece Pelton. Ed’s grandchildren are Charity, Quentin Adam, Dylan, Emily, Izabel, Jerika, Jimmy, and Beckett. He also had six great-grandchildren. In addition, he leaves behind numerous other loving relatives and friends.
