Edwin A. Clayton of Bruning, NE the son of Fred and Esther(Ayers)Clayton was born July 24, 1929 in Graivity, Iowa. He departed this life on Friday, February 22, 2008 at Saint Elizabeth’s Regional Medical Center in Lincoln, NE at the age of 78 years.
Edwin grew up in the Graivity, IA area and graduated from Graivity High School. After high school he entered the U.S. Navy from 1947 to 1971. Edwin was inducted into the United States Navy Seals, traveling around the world. He did two tours in Vietnam during the war. After he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy, Edwin attended Hastings College and received a Bachelor’s Degree. He moved to Thayer County and became a postal rural mail carrier in the Carleton, Bruning, and Alexandria area for 25 years.
Edwin married Faye Hintz on June 16, 2006.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother Dennis Clayton, and one sister Maxine Harris.
He is survived by his wife Faye Clayton of Bruning, NE, 2 sons Tim Clayton and wife Madolyne of Sargeant, NE, and Kipp Clayton of San Antonio, TX, 2 daughters Kim Snyder and husband Dave of Aurora, CO, and Tami Johnson of Grand Island, NE. Step-children Kyle Hintz and wife Cindy of Strang, NE, Kory Hintz and wife Cherie of Bruning, NE, Kara Edwards and husband James of Hebron, NE, Kren Shellhase and husband Hunter of Lincoln, NE, one sister Wilma Perwilliger of
Mount Ayr, IA, 11 Grandchildren, 1 Great-Grandson, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
