Survivors include his sisters, Mary Evelyn Kellner of Stewartville, MN, Yvonne Awe of Badger, Alice Stalzer of Livermore, Marlene (Jim) Albus of Waterloo, Norma Jean Nelson of Humboldt, Marilyn Klein of Humboldt and Leverna (Roy) Sturm of Belmond; a very special friend, Florence Strain of Fort Dodge; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nick Jr. and Mary (Hilbert) Klein; a brother, Allen R. Klein; brother-in-laws, Harry Stalzer, Perry Smith, Lawrence Kellner, William “Bill” Brighi and Don Nelson; and a niece Diane Carlisle.

Edwin Francis Klein, the son of Nick Jr. and Mary (Hilbert) Klein, was born on July 10, 1933 in Watkins, MN. In 1940 at the age of 7 he moved with his parents to Livermore. He received his education from the Livermore Public School, graduating from 8th grade in 1948. He then started farming with his father on the family farm, also working as a hired hand for a neighbor, Frank Devine.

On August 9, 1954 he was inducted into the Army, he received his basic training at Camp Chaffee, Arkansas and graduated from motor mechanics school there. He then was stationed at Ft. Sill, OK where he graduated from Artillery School. He then flew to Camp Kilmer, N.J. enroute to Germany as a motor mechanic. He received his honorable discharge on July 31, 1962. After his discharge he returned to farming with his father and after his father retired he bought the farmstead. Due to failing health he retired in 2006 and became a resident at the North Care Center in Humboldt in May 2008.

Bud was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he had been a Eucharistic Minister, Alter Boy, he visited the sick and did sick call duties, and he was always willing to do anything for his church. He was a board member of the Mt. Calvary Cemetery and the Otto-Field American Legion Post #415 of Livermore.

Bud enjoyed bowling and belonged to the Schulitz Bowling Team for years. He enjoyed farming and raising cattle, playing cards, watching all kinds of sports on T.V. and was an avid Hawkeye fan. Bud also enjoyed visiting family and friends.
