Edward Winegarner, 79, of Junction City, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2020 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. He was born August 11, 1940 in Cartter, Illinois, the son of Alpha Adam Winegarner and Isabella Elizabeth (Staser) Winegarner. Edward married Marilyn Kaye Young on August 13, 1960 and she survives in Junction City.
In addition to his wife of 59 years, Marilyn Winegarner of Junction City, he is also survived by his five children: Eddie Winegarner and Fiancé Lisa of Centralia, Darla Griffin and husband Jim of Centralia, Jeanna Winegarner and fiancé Gary of Texico, David Winegarner and wife Twilla of Junction City, and Troy Winegarner and wife Kelley of Centralia; 17 grandchildren: Amanda, Anthony, Jason, Johnathon, Savannah, Kelly, Jr., April, William, Brandon, Erica, Justin, Cassie, Kaylee, Dylan, Brett, Mariah and Lexi; 42 and one on the way great-grandchildren; a sister: Shirley Doudera and Kenneth of Peoria; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son: Gary Winegarner and a niece: Betty Doudera. Edward was a graduate of Salem High School. He worked as a Correction Officer for 40 years until he retired. He was a member of Harveys Point Christian Church, where he also was Baptized. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, horses, singing Karaoke, and Ralph the Lizard. Edward always had a smile on his face and was a very hard worker all of his life. He cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.
