Edward W. Pitts, 82, Anderson, died November 2, 2002 at St. Johns Health System, Anderson Indiana after following a brief illness. Edward was born in Lockport, IL on Nov. 12, 1919, the son of William and Ida Pitts.
He moved to Bloomington, IN as a child and spent his adult life in Anderson. Ed had worked for several companies during his life, retiring form General Motors in 1979. He had spent the last 16 years working for Pay Less, Inc. He served with the U. S. Army in World War II, stationed in the European Theater.
He received two Bronze Stars and a medal for marksmanship. He is survived by Sanny Pitts of Anderson, Alberta Guthrie of Anderson, Bert Pitts of Noblesville, Jack Pitts of Anderson, Brenda and Cletus Goodman of Wilmington, Ohio, William Pitts and Darice Lassiter of Anderson. Harold and Debra Pitts of Lafayette, Kathy Plovick of Anderson, Ryan Plovick of Indianapolis. Nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and his favorite cat, ”The Boy”. He was preceded in death by a son, Darnell Pitts in 2000.
