Edward “Ed” Sherman Greenleaf born on the 7th of December 1937 (81) lived a full life! A devoted husband and father, a true patriot to the Nation, and a friend to everyone he came in contact with.
Sadly, Ed passed away in the presence of two of his daughters peacefully on the 20th of November 2019. Ed was an avid hunter and fisherman throughout most of his life, born in Kingman, Kansas and raised across different parts of Texas. In 1953 Ed joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served honorably for 22 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant.
In 1966 Ed married his best friend and the love of his life, Clara “Sissy” O’Malley Greenleaf. The two of them were meant for each other, never once having an argument and always supporting one another. Ed and Sissy started a family in San Diego and eventually set anchor in Portage, Michigan. Ed would go on to work for The Upjohn Company for the next 21 years as a computer programmer, retiring once again in 1996.
In his retired days Ed took his love for the outdoors to his greenhouse where he was passionate about creating Bonsai. He was proud to be a member of the Kalamazoo Bonsai Society. In retirement he enjoyed spending time with Sissy and the grandchildren that lived nearby. Ed could always be identified by his red USMC that he never left home without. A great man who will be missed by many!
Ed was preceded in death by his parent Malcolm and Gertrude as well as his siblings Butch and Laura. He lost his bride on 31 January 2016 after she said her last words “I love you” to him before she passed away.
Surviving are his five children; Kathleen LaPlant and her husband Floyd of Palmdale, CA., Patrick Greenleaf of Kalamazoo, MI., Shannon Greenleaf of Portage, MI., Mary Snyder and her husband Steve of Portage, MI. and Sean Greenleaf and his wife Yvette of Aiea, HI.
Also surviving Ed are his six grandchildren and one great grandchild; Andrea LeFluer and her husband Keith with their son Malachai, Niel LaPlant and his wife Juliana, Joel LaPlant, Jordan Wilson, Austin Snyder and Claire Snyder.
Ed is reunited now with Sissy and is assisting in guarding the streets of heaven.
