Edward “Ed” Roman Salas, 66
Edward “Ed” Roman Salas, born April 4, 1943 in Alamogordo, NM, has departed from his family to be in the loving arms of our Eternal Father. Ed passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 in Dallas, Texas, where he was awaiting a liver transplant. Ed was surrounded by his nephews and niece at the Dallas hospital when he gently closed his eyes and left us. He is now resting, and without pain, in heaven with his parents, Eduardo and Petra (Roman) Salas, and his brother and his wife, Leo and Delores Salas.
He is survived by sisters Barbara Estrada and Susan Swain of Alamogordo and Veronica Salas of Ruidoso and brothers Arturo Salas and wife Mariela of Odessa, Texas, Carlos Salas and wife Donna of La Luz, and Rafael Salas of Ruidoso. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles and many friends who also knew him as “Lali.”
Ed graduated from Alamogordo High School in 1962. He was a great football player and participated in other sports. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He attended UNM in Albuquerque, and from there enlisted in the Navy where he served four years.
