Edward R. Mullady, 84, of Barkhamsted, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on January 30, 2020. Ed was born on July 19, 1935 to Thomas F. Mullady, Jr. and Anna Christine (Kast) Mullady, the third of five children, and he was raised in Rockville Centre, NY. He earned degrees from Johns Hopkins University, Wesleyan University, and St. Joseph College. After serving in the U.S. Army for two years in the late 1950s, he taught English and History at Farmington High School. It was there that he met a fellow teacher and the love of his life, Maria (nee Uccello), and the two were married in 1963. He then taught at Northwestern Connecticut Community College where he was professor of English and Philosophy until his retirement in 1991. Ed was a talented pianist. As a young man, he was a student of the celebrated pianist Ernesto Berúmen in New York City, and over the course of his life Ed gave many concerts. He played the piano as often as he could and enjoyed giving lessons to his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed doing yardwork, taking regular walks, and reading. He loved the New England beaches, and the Northwestern Connecticut was a loving and supportive husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Maria, their three children, Christopher (Maria João Rodrigues), Kathleen Leonard (Frank), and Daniel (Bhupinder) and six grandchildren, Clarice, Maria, Sarah, Sarina, Arun, and Owen. He is also survived by three siblings, Thomas F. Mullady III, James B. Mullady, and Anne Ryan, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Michael R. Mullady. Ed was also predeceased by a grandson, Luke Edward Singh Mullady.
