Edward P. Walsh passed away November 8, 2008 at Heritage Manor in Newton, Iowa. Ed was born May 23, 1920 in Lucas County to Matthew J. and Kathryn (Flattery) Walsh. He graduated from Melrose High School in 1939. He served in WWII in the Navy on the U.S.S. Casablanca from 1942-1945. Ed graduated from Iowa State University in 1949 with a degree in Electric Engineering. He worked for Iowa Southern Utilities in Centerville, Iowa from 1949 to 1982. He was the Manger of Engineering and Vice President at the time of his retirement. He married Donna C. Dahrney on February 15, 1951. They had two daughters. In 1978, they moved to their farm in Monroe County and lived there until moving to Newton in 2006. Ed was an avid hunter, horseshoe pitcher and loved the farm and his cows. Ed was a catholic all his life and was a member of St. Patrick’s in Melrose and Sacred Heart in was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Matt and is survived by his wife, Donna; two daughters, Jane C. (and Don) Enwright of Seattle, WA and Patience (and Bob) Dorr of Johnston; two sisters, Mary Gerl of Green Bay, WI and Helene Walsh of Des Moines; his 3 grandchildren, Matt Dorr and Rory and Caitlin Enwright; and several nieces and nephews.
