Edward MacMaster, 88, of Lavallette, NJ died on Tuesday March 25, 2014 at home. Born in Paterson, NJ, he lived in New Milford, NJ before moving to Lavallette in 1992. He had summered in Lavallette since 1959. Edward was a US Navy veteran of WWII serving on Midway Island. He received his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy.

After graduating, he worked as a Mechanical Engineer for Bendix in Teterboro, NJ, then for Rexnord Inc in Paramus, NJ. After retiring in 1990, he worked for 15 years at Lavallette Hardware where he was known as “the screen man.” Edward was active in the New Milford Little League and was a past president of the New Milford Swim Club. He was a parishioner of the Church of the Ascension in New Milford and a member of their Holy Name Society and the CYO. He was also a parishioner of the Parish of St Pio of Pietrelcina RC Church, Lavallette.

Surviving is his loving wife, Ann nee Jerlinski, his six children and their spouses: John and his wife Diane of Hillsborough, Patty and her husband Lynden Day of New Milford, MaryJo and her husband Gregory Gradel of Westfield, Eileen and her husband Bob Hoehne of Ortley Beach, Ted and his wife Michele of Basking Ridge, Bob and his wife Rosemary of Whiting; Two sisters, Margaret Stansfield of Lakewood, and Barbara Orosz of Manahawkin; Eleven Grandchildren: Christopher, Brandon, Jessica, Ryan, Jayne, Griffin, Meghan, Shannon, Colin, Rebecca and Courtney. Four Great-Grandchildren: Paige, Jacob, Benjamin and Emma.
