Edward M. Opton, 99, of Pequot Lane, Stratford, died Dec. 17, 2008 in Bridgeport Hospital. He was the husband of Diana Friedman Opton of Stratford and the late Carolyn Brown Opton. Mr. Opton was born in Far Rockaway, N.Y. on May 16, 1909, son of the late Milton E. and Harriet Rosenberg Opton. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a research scientist. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Edward M.(Sumiko) Opton Jr. of Berkley, CA., David B.(Mary Ann)Opton of Barrington, R.I. and James D.(Susan) Opton of Dunn, N.C. Also survived by grandchildren Kathryne, Richard, Daniel, Carolyn & Victoria and great grandchildren Max, Ruby and Connor.
