Mr. Edward M. “Eddy” Chandler, Sr., age 75, of Lanett, AL passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the EAMC Lanier Hospital in Valley, AL.
Mr. Chandler was a loving father, grandfather, friend, and mentor to many. He had many accomplishments in his life but the one he was most proud of was being a member of the Grand Ole Opry. He served as Lanett Police Commissioner, Chairman of the Lanett City Council, Chairman of the Lanett Board of Education, and Vice Chairman of the Chambers County DHR.
He loved country music, spending time with his kids, grandkids, and friends, helping the less fortunate, charities, and most of all, the Lanett and Valley community. His favorite thing to do was sing and bar-b-que.
He is survived by his sons & daughter, Eddy (Peggy) Chandler, Jr. of Orlando, FL, Tim Chandler of Jacksonville, FL, Rusty (Donna) Huffman of Valley, Jared Chandler of Lanett, Jenilyn (Mike) Johnson of Columbus, GA, Shane (Amanda) Chandler of Valley, AL and Johnny Allen of Lanett; best friend, Charles Story; special family friends, Richard and Linda Bolt, James and Brenda Boozer, and James and Jan Sanders; eleven grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia H. Chandler; parents, Roy and Ruby Chandler; brothers, Robert L. “Bobby” Chandler, Roy Chandler, Jr.; sisters, Elizabeth Smith, Shirley Drennon, Inez Hudmon, and Doris Turner.
