Edward William Locker, Sr., of Florence, died on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at his residence after a long illness at the age of 77. Mr. Locker was born and raised in Philadelphia and then spent most of his adult life in Burlington and Bustleton.
He lived in his current home for the last 39 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War and was disabled by an explosion while transporting land mines. He worked as a heavy equipment operator, a machinist and a mechanic for different companies and worked last for the Inductotherm Co., in Rancocas. He was a member of the New Jersey Chapter #42 of the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed making things as a hobby, using his mechanical skills to invent and build machines for different tasks.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jeanne C. (nee Cooper), his sons and daughters in law, Edward, Jr. and Lavanda, of Cleveland, OK, Robert and Lee Ann, of Burlington, his daughter and son in law, Cynthia and Ernest Opdyke, Sr., of Burlington, his grandchildren, Jennifer Pattik, Christopher, Adam and Edward Locker, III, Ernest Opdyke, Jr., Johnathan, Andrew and Elizabeth Opdyke, and his great grandson, Peyton Pattik. Brother of the late John, he is also survived by his brothers, Willard, William and Thomas Locker.
