MANCHESTER / NEW HARTFORD / CANTON –WHITE – Edward Leonard White, formerly of Canton, died September 11, 2014. He was the son of the late Edward A. and Karen (Willerup) White. He was born and raised in Hartford and graduated from Weaver High School, Class of 1947. Ed served two enlistments in the Navy serving on the Submarines U.S.S. Flying Fish SS 229, U.S.S. Tench SS 417, and the U.S.S. Angler SS 240, reaching rank of Sonarman First Class. Ed enjoyed boating with family and friends on the beautiful Connecticut River. Ed was a long time member and past Commodore of the Hartford Yacht Club. Ed worked as a Machinist in several area shops, namely Gros-ite Industries in Farmington. He leaves his four children, a daughter, Paula Gleed and fiancé Philip of New Hartford, CT, and her daughters, Karin and Amy; and three sons, Edward A. and wife Kristen, their daughters Linnea and Ingrid of Washington, CT, Eric C. and wife Karen and their three children, Victoria, Rebecca and Sean of Franklin, MA and Andrew B. and wife Sandra and their three children, Stephanie, Brian and Griffin of Manchester, CT; two great grandsons, he thought of as his beautiful boys, Braiden and Sawyer; two sisters, Carol Lord of East Hartford and Thea and Rev. Steven Ling of Middletown; former wife, June of Morris, CT; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert and son-in-law, Arthur Gleed.
