Edward Lee Smith, 90, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, September 30, 2022. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama to Zelta Shelton Smith and Arby Lee Smith. After graduating from Palmetto High School in Reform, Alabama, Edward attended the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He obtained his master’s degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia and later First Baptist Church Tuscaloosa. He proudly served in the U.S. Army for two years and was an active member of the Gideons International.
He is survived by two sons, Kevin (Chantelle) Smith and Karl Smith, as well as four grandchildren, Ryden (Jordan) Smith, Coleman Smith, Brynna Smith, and Lincoln Smith. He was preceeded in death by his wife, Billie Jean Bates Smith, and his parents, Zelta Shelton Smith, and Arby Lee Smith.
