HAVERHILL – Edward L. Fitzgerald, Jr., 72, of Haverhill, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House.
Lovingly known as Fitzy, he was born in Haverhill on March 22, 1943, loving son of the late Edward L. Fitzgerald, Sr. and Anne (Comparone) Fitzgerald. Raised in Haverhill and a graduate of St. James High School Class of 1960.
He is a Veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during Vietnam.
Fitzy worked as a State Auditor until he began his career at the Haverhill District Court. He worked for the Court for 40 years until his passing; serving the Commonwealth and the people of Haverhill as the First Assistant Clerk of Courts. The people that Fitzy worked with over the years were more than co-workers, he considered them all his family and he will be truly missed by all that have known and loved him.
Fitzy was an avid golfer and was a member of the Haverhill Country Club for many years, and a member of the Association of Magistrates and Assistants Clerks as well as other professional associations, the Amvets Post 147 of Haverhill and the American Legion.
