SALEM – Edward L. Pittman, age 63 of Salem passed away at 1:53 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2018 at the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 8, 1955 in Salem the son of the late Frank and Jeanette (Bailey) Pittman. Big Ed, as he was lovingly called by his family, was a 1973 graduate of Salem High School. He retired in 2014 as an inspector for Hunt Valve Company with 34 years of dedicated service and previously he worked for Quaker Manufacturing.
Ed was known for his love of the Cleveland Browns and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Ed, the homerun king of Reilly Field, was always willing to lend a helping hand to any family member or friend who needed some construction work done and built most of his own home with his own bare hands.
Everyone who met Big Ed could see his kindness and the love he had for his wife, kids and grandchildren. Ed suffered from Parkinson’s disease for over 20 years but was never known to complain. He will be missed by many, and to live by his words, always tell people you love them, you never know when it could be the last time.
Ed is survived by his wife of 40 years, Florence (Cutlip) Pittman whom he married March, 17, 1978; his daughters, Sandy Keglor and her sons, Grant and James; Shannon Grimm and her daughters, Emily and Shelby; Tamara (Mark) Courtney and her daughters, Lex and Tallah; and a son, Eddie and his children, Bentley and Kinsley; his brothers, Richard (Sharon) Pittman, Kenny (Gloria) Pittman, David “Bubba” (Pam) Pittman and James Pittman and a sister, Mildred Pittman.
