Edward ‘Tweeter’ Hennessey passed away peacefully on February 25, 2022, at the age of 87. He was born in North Tarrytown, NY to Richard and Catherine (Ferguson) Hennessey on September 20, 1934. He is predeceased by his loving wife Denise A. (Dullea) Hennessey, whom he wed on October 21, 1956.
He became a proud member of the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Carpellotti (APD-136) in the Mediterranean. Following the military, he served as a police officer for the Town of Eastchester for 31 years, retiring as a Lieutenant.
Ed retired to North Carolina so that he could enjoy his love for golf. He was a member of the Elks Club, The American Legion, and the VFW where he met many good friends and golfing partners. He lived in North Carolina for nearly 30 years before moving back to be closer to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He will be lovingly remembered by his children Eileen (Terrance) McKeon, Colleen Hennessey, and Suzanne Zottola. He will also be missed by his grandchildren Meghan (Michael) Sweeney, Keir (Kristi) Howard, Terrance (Stacey) McKeon, Jacob (CariAnne) McKeon, Heather Mackey, Ashleigh (Nick) Mucci, Alexandra (Nick) DeCrenza, and James Mackey. Ed was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren Olivia, Madison, Devin, Carter, Jackson, Kennedy, Hunter, Declan, Isla, and Alfredo. He will also be remembered by many loving nieces and nephews.
When Ed was not with his family or playing golf, he enjoyed reading, watching old movies, and golf or football on TV. Above all, Ed loved a ‘thin & crispy’ pizza and a Sprite with no ice (not because he was cheap!)
“ REVERSE IN PEACE”, POP.
