CUYAHOGA FALLS – Edward Pollard, 90, passed away on April 17, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Ed was born in Northfield on February 24, 1932 to the late Mary C. Pollard. He was a graduate of St. Joseph Grade School in Cuyahoga Falls and was a 1950 graduate of St. Mary High School. He was a lifetime parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he was an altar server as a child. Ed was a renowned and brilliant artist and used his skills to pave his career. He began as Art Director for Roadway where he developed the Rex Roadway character and published their bi-weekly magazine. He also worked as vice-president Stalker Advertising and worked to develop many advertising campaigns including the Graham Ford Man. He later worked for Ed Mullinax Ford, running their advertising Agency developing the Mullinax Supertrader and
the Sports Beat Magazine, a monthly magazine which covered all of the Cleveland Sports teams. Ed ended his career working with Charles Mayer Studios. Throughout his career he was a portrait artist and his drawing and paintings can be found locally and nationally, including a portrait of JFK hung in one of the federal buildings near the White House.
In addition to his mother, Ed was preceded in death by his wife Louise. He is survived by his children Edward Pollard, Mary Jo Bittner, & Michael (Cindy) Pollard . Ed was extremely proud of his grandchildren Ashley(Justin) Layton, Austin Pollard, Nathan Bittner, and Nicole, Mackenzie, & Mikey Pollard & three great-grandchildren; sisters Dolores Snock, Joan Eckert, & Jean Balas, as well as many nieces & nephews.
