Edward J. Lukens of Burlington Township passed away at Virtua Hospital in Mt. Holly on Monday at the age of 89. He was born and raised in Burlington and served his country honorably in the US Navy during World War II. He graduated from Rider University with a business degree and worked as a tax accountant for the Federal Highway Administration in Ewing. Ed was a devoted and caring family man.

He enjoyed playing golf, and was credited with two holes in one in his lifetime. He was a Past President of the Holy Name Society, followed Notre Dame Football and belonged to the Elks and the Mitchell Fire Dept. Husband of 56 years to the late Jean E. (nee: Mancini) and brother of the late Joe and John Lukens; he is survived by his children: Jacqueline (Tom) Smith, Cindi (Leon) Battaglia, Susan (Michael) Coin, Joanne (Joe) Hejda, MaryEllen Lukens, Theresa Lukens; 14 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law Louise and Edith Mancini and many nieces and nephews.
