Edward J. Jagoda, age 66, of Rensselaer and formerly of Crown Point, Ind., passed away November 3, 2013 at the Jasper County Hospital.

Edward was born July 6, 1947 in Dry Tavern, Pennsylvania, the son of Anna (Baniecki) Jagoda and Joseph Jagoda, Sr. He was a 1965 graduate of Jefferson-Morgan High School in Jefferson, Pennsylvania. Edward was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1966-1968. He retired from U.S. Steel Gary Works, Local #1066, after 36 years where he was a millwright at the 84″ Hotstrip Mill. On September 24, 1966, in Crown Point, Indiana Edward married Mona A. Vonderheid who survives. Edward was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Rensselaer. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Bishop Dwenger Council #1881 where he enjoyed working the Friday night fish fry’s. He enjoyed hunting, especially archery, traveling, spending time outdoors and always appreciated a good practical joke. Edward was a loving husband and father who will be greatly missed.

Surviving is his loving family, wife Mona of Rensselaer, son James (Barbara) Jagoda, Brookston, Ind., daughter Julie A. Jagoda, Chicago, Ill., two sisters Doloris McClelland, Washington, Penn. and Joanne (Roger) Zackfia, Morocco, Ind., a brother Joseph (Freda) Jagoda, Jr., Washington, Penn. and many nieces and nephews.
