Edward J.Funaro Jr., 80, of 288 Clinton Avenue, New Haven passed away Jan. 16, 2012 in The CT. Hospice, Branford. He was the beloved husband of Rosemary Germanese Funaro. He was a former resident of Ridge Road, North Haven. Mr. Funaro was born in New Haven Jan. 13, 1932, son of the late Edward “Murph” and Betty Dryzgula (Desco) Funaro. He owned and operated Funaro Trucking for 30 years and worked as a sales representative and general manager for Len-Crete in Hamden for 25 years. More recently, he worked at McDermott Chevrolet. He will be remembered as a wonderful father, husband and grandfather. He was an avid scratch golfer, fisherman, bowler and hunter. He was a member of the Wallingford Country Club and served on the Board of Directors. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Valerie Funaro Rapuano of Boca Raton, FL.; two sons in law, Edward S. Rapuano Jr. and Frank Volpe; four grandchildren, Edward S. Rapuano III, Francesca Elizabeth Volpe, Rosalie Ann Rapuano & Nicholas Michael Rapuano; and his cousin, Lorraine D. Cronin of New Haven; He was predeceased by a daughter, Elizabeth Funaro Volpe.
