Mr. Edward Hicks entered into rest on May 1, 2021, at Orange Park Medical Center in Orange Park, FL. He was born on October 24, 1953 in Appling, GA, to the late Cleveland Hicks, Sr. and Ruby Jackson Hicks.

Edward graduated from Hephzibah High School in Hephzibah, GA in 1972 and attended Brewton-Parker College in Mt. Vernon, GA from 1972-1975. He was drafted by the New York Mets and played Minor League AAA Baseball. Edward joined the United States Navy in 1978 and faithfully served for 20 years, obtaining the grade of E-6 and retiring with honors. He was awarded numerous medals, badges, citations and campaign ribbons while on active duty.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Oscar Louis Hicks, Cleveland Hicks, Jr., Willie James Hicks, Leroy Hicks and Alfonza Hicks.

Edward was a devoted and faithful husband to his wife, Queen, for 43 years. He also leaves to mourn, daughter, Tarean Miller; grandchildren, Edward J. Miller and Ishauna Miller; mother-in-law, Johnnie Mae McGee, Jacksonville; one brother, Richard Hicks, Graniteville, SC; four devoted sisters, Edith (Edward) Brooks, Hephzibah, GA, Bertha Hicks, Augusta, GA, Julia Hicks, Augusta and Myrtis Hicks, North Augusta, SC; sisters-in-law, Minnie Hicks, Hephzibah, Zelene Morris, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Rose (Sam) Savage, SC, Elouise (Robert) Lesane, Ft. Lauderdale, Tresa King, Ft. Lauderdale and Toyna King, Lakeland, FL; brothers-in-law, Robert (Alberta) King, AL, Malcolm (Wanda) King, MD, Harrison (Glennis) King, Chicago, IL, Timothy (Tammie) King, Chicago, Perkin King, Augusta, Dock King, Jacksonville, FL, Anthony King, Jacksonville, Johnny Lewis, Jacksonville and Jerome (Shirley) Sapp, Lakeland; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
