Edward H. Marquard, 85, of Jacksonville, IL, died Wed., Nov. 24, 2021, at his home. He was born Jan. 7, 1936, in Jacksonville, the son of Herman and Edna Willner Marquard. He married Laura Todd Funk on Dec. 29, 1957, in Literberry and she preceded him in death on Oct. 10, 2003.
He is survived by three sons, Luke (Tracey) Marquard, Chester “Chet” (Leah) Marquard, and Mark Marquard, all of Jacksonville; fourteen grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren; and one brother, Carl “Bud” (Elizabeth) Marquard of Newport News, VA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one grandson, Shawn A. Marquard; one sister, Mary Borcky; and one brother in infancy.
Mr. Marquard was a 1955 graduate of Jacksonville High School, where he played football and wrestled. He owned and operated several businesses, including Arctic Ice Company, Marquard’s Sales & Service, Arctic Leasing, and Marquard Rentals. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a former member of Literberry Baptist Church. Ed was also a member of the AMVETS, American Legion, the Moose Lodge, the Elks, and the C.B. Club.
