Edward Gilbert “Gibby” Tarangioli Jr, passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 74 on February 15th.

Raised in Yonkers, NY, he was a champion tennis player at Fordham Prep and later Georgetown University.  His beloved Park Hill neighborhood shaped him, where he grew up with the camaraderie of many friends and neighbors. Ed received his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 1972 and soon after started in private practice.  He worked for the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office before going to work for PepsiCo in the International Law division, first in New York, and later for Frito-Lay, where he had an accomplished career until his retirement in 2005.

Ed will be remembered for his unending wit and charisma, his zeal on the tennis court, and most of all, his love for family and friends.  He was a lifelong learner and great story-teller.  These qualities permeated all aspects of his life, professionally and socially.  Among his many passions, he enjoyed summers in Rhode Island, long card games, and protesting the outcome of said long card games.

He is predeceased by his parents, Edward Gilbert Sr. and Harriet Tarangioli.  Surviving Ed, he leaves behind his love, Trudy Claborn, children Kathryn Clare Zack (Adam), Mary Elizabeth Smith (Kevin), and Edward Gilbert III (Jessica). Cherished grandchildren are Louis, George, and Margaret Zack; Shannon, Quinn and Brendan Smith; Gemma and namesake Edward Tarangioli IV.  Ed is also survived by siblings Louise, Joan Dupay (Jay), and Neil (Doretta), cousin Kateri Alexander, mother of his children Rosemary Tarangioli, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
