Edward F. Samolinski, 94, of Peru, died Thursday night, July 14, 2011 at Manor Court in Peru. Mr. Samolinski was born October 9, 1916 in LaSalle to John and Anna (Nieznalski) Samolinski. He married Mary Prucnal in September 1944. She passed away in 1979. He later married Helen Banko on June 4, 1983 in Peru. He was a WWII Army Veteran, serving in the European Theater and was a recipient of the Bronze Star.
After serving his country he worked at M&H Zinc Co. and Alpha Cement Plant. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, Peru, War Veterans of La Salle, Peru Eagles and Oglesby Elks. He is survived by his wife Helen; 3 children, James (Judy) Samolinski of Tamoroa, IL, Linda (Peter) Reviglio of Spring Valley, and step-son Gene (Kathy) Castellari of Arvasa, CO; 4 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren and one step great-grandchild; one sister, Jennie Piotrowski; three brothers, Lawrence, Raymond, Casimir Samolinski; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Mary, 7 brothers and 2 sisters.
