Edward F. Monk, a life-long resident of White Plains, NY, passed away peacefully at his home on May 1, 2020. He was born April 14, 1926 in White Plains to William W. Monk and Eleanor C. (Richards) Monk and was the third of 10 children.

Ed graduated White Plains High School in 1944, joined the U.S. Navy and served during WWII as a sonar technician aboard a Navy Destroyer Escort ship in the North Atlantic. In 1949 he joined the White Plains Fire Dept. where he served for 20 years. In 1954 he married Joan A. Christ in White Plains where they raised their 4 children. He is predeceased by his wife Joan. Ed lived an active life, had many friends and was well loved. During his retirement he enjoyed playing golf, travel, and his extended family. He and Joan lived part time in Bradenton, Florida.

He is survived by his children Edward J. Monk (Sharon), Michael W. Monk (Lisa), John V. Monk (Irene), and Lolly Monk. He was a loving grandfather to Dr. Edward C. Monk (Christa), Ryan T. Monk (Kimberly), the late Joseph Zappala, Jr., Jesse Zappala, Lucas Monk, and Savannah Monk. He was a loving great-grandfather to Penelope, Giulietta, Edward Bruno, Thomas, and Flora. And a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.
