Edward F. Manning, 91, of Toms River, NJ passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2022. Born in Boston, MA, he graduated from Boston English High School and later proudly served his country in the United States Army. After leaving the Army, he graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in Electrical Engineering.
After college graduation, he established a career at Western Union in New York City, where he met his future wife, Patricia. Edward was an early pioneer of the computer age and data processing. Edward raised his family in Emerson, NJ before retiring in Toms River, NJ. He enjoyed spending time with his family, vacationing at Long Beach Island, NJ and, as a season ticket holder, rooting for the New York Giants football team. Edward was a wonderful Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend.
Ed took so much interest and great pleasure in being part of his Grandchildren’s lives. “Pop” will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his wife Patricia (Fogarty), his parents John and Mary (Kelly) Manning, as well as his siblings; John, Robert, Donald, and Marie. Edward will be forever remembered by his loving family; son Edward and his wife Maria Manning of Sacramento, CA, daughter Laurie and her husband Douglas Subers of Point Pleasant Beach, NJ, son Gregory and his wife Virginia Manning of Newtown, PA, and six grandchildren; Doug Subers, Ryan Subers, Clare Manning, Jack Subers, Isabella Manning, and Thomas Manning.
