Edward Eugene Sauble, Sr., age 78, of Fairfield, PA, formerly of Taneytown, MD, died peacefully on Friday, July 30, 2010 at the Menno Haven Retirement Community Nursing Home in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
Born June 25, 1932 in Taneytown, Maryland, he was the son of the late George Raymond and Ruth Estelle (Koons) Sauble, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Beatrice (Vaughn) Sauble.
Ed graduated in 1949 from Taneytown High School, and later attended diesel-mechanical school in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a self-employed huckster for over 30 years, selling produce and eggs in the Washington D.C. area. He later became a school bus contractor, and retired as head of transportation with the ARC of Carroll County in Westminster. Ed was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Taneytown, where he served as past council member and head usher. He was a Past-Master Mason with the former local Taneytown Masonic Lodge #203, past-president and founder of the Taneytown Jaycees, and a local little league coach.
Surviving in addition to his wife are Dr. Edward E. Sauble, Jr. of Taneytown, Dr. Todd V. Sauble and wife Lesli of Martinsburg, West Virginia; grandsons, Cameron Vaughn Sauble and Alec Vaughn Sauble; sister, Ruth Lorraine Wilson of Taneytown; sister-in-law, Doris Sauble of Taneytown; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, George R. Sauble, Jr.
