It is with great sadness that we, the family of Edward Eugene Morris, announce the passing of our husband, father, brother, and friend.

Edward Eugene Morris was born November 3, 1949 eight years after his mama thought she was done having children.

Ed and his wife Becky were married for 51 years, and they had two sons, Russell Morris and Greg Morris.  Russell, the oldest, a Marine and lifelong military man, and Greg, the youngest, a college football player and successful businessman, grew up to be a great source of pride.  He often said that Becky raised two good boys.  Both sons married Russell to Cherish Simms Morris and Greg to Jessica Holden Morris, and had grandkids that Ed doted on. Olivia, Ethan, Garrett, and Hudson called Ed Papa.  He was known to paint his best girl Olivia’s toenails and call Hudson “Hambone”, Ethan “E-Man”, and Garrett “Hot Rocks.”

Ed graduated from Baskin High School in 1968 and served in Vietnam in 1970.  He travelled all over the country instigating trouble on the CB radio as a long haul trucker for over 40 years.  During that time, he was an owner/operator, along with his brother, in M and M Leasing Trucking Company.  He transitioned to retirement by leaving the long road to haul “taters” for ConAgra, but soon found retirement on “The Porch” of his neighbor’s house a good place to sit, drink coffee, and solve the world’s problems.  He walked to the porch every morning with his “third son” and loyal companion, Jozee.

He was a die-hard Republican, with a penchant for biting sarcasm.  Ed loved Fox News and Louis L’Amour western novels.  He loved to discuss politics and would argue with a fence post to defend his point of view.  He appeared hard on the outside, but he was soft on the inside.  He was generous to his family and friends, and he will be sorely missed.

Edward Eugene Morris passed away at the age of 70 on July 22, 2020 in Dunn, Louisiana surrounded by his family and friends.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents, L. G. Morris, Sr. and Flora Brown Morris, his brother Robert Lee Morris, and sister Lola Morris Clark.  He is survived by his loving wife Rebecca Davis Morris of Dunn, his sons Russell Morris (Cherish) of Epps, and Greg Morris (Jessie) of Pineville, grandchildren, Olivia, Ethan, Garrett, and Hudson, his brothers and sisters, L. G. Morris, Jr.,

Raymond Morris (Ruby) of Doyline, Gussie Gwin and Henry Morris of Baskin, Rhoda Mahaffey of Flora, MS, Kathy Wallace (Dale) of White Castle, brother-in-law Bruce Davis and sister-in-law Susan Tucker (Roy) of Delhi, and many nieces and nephews who loved him.
